Four people escape as Machefski block burns in Blairsville
A early morning fire at the Machefski building 24 26 West Market Street Blairsville destroys a dry goods store and a shoe repair shop on the first floor and gutts both second floor apartments of J A Machefski and Jerry Tetratos. Edward Machefski 17 alerted the fire after discovering the blaze on the west side. The fire, of undetermined origin, prompted a general alarm at 8 46 and required about an hour to control with all equipment on scene until 6 oclock.

Charles Palmer of Indiana, arrested on felonious arson charges in Greensburg after a morning blaze gutted the Reed family house near town.
