King Defies Court, Resumes Selma March To Montgomery
In Selma Alabama Dr Martin Luther King Jr said President Johnson erred in ordering Negro demonstrators to halt plans for a 50 mile march to Montgomery Federal Judge Frank M Johnson had prohibited the march after state troopers beat marchers with no federal action King defended the decision to march saying they risk contempt of court but must stand up to the troopers He anticipated possible contempt charges and a court hearing was set for Thursday to decide the injunction against troopers blocking future protests

Sharon Area Program Approved for General Machine Operators
Washington AP reports a $102,453 plan to train 36 unemployed workers as general machine operators in Sharon Pennsylvania. The Labor Department approved the project but deferred it temporarily until Congress releases needed funds. Rep Joseph P Vigorito announced the 36 week course at Hickory High School Sharon with $48,570 for training allowances subsistence and transportation and $53,833 from the Welfare Department for training costs.
