West Point Neb March 10 A German born American soldier Lt Karl Timmerman of West Point is reported in frontline dispatches as possibly the first American to cross the Rhine. His uncle was imprisoned in a Nazi concentration camp and the story cites his family connections and emotional reactions to the historic crossing.
The Student Christian Movement conference at Indiana State Teachers College ends Sunday afternoon with services at the Methodist Church at 2 30. F A Clifton with missions across Yap, Fall Island, and surrounding bases.
American Fifth Army troops tightened the noose around Vergata southwest of Bologna, reaching within about a mile from both banks of the Reno River. They seized high ground east of the river near Vergato and advanced toward Sabbionata, while U S forces on the west bank guarded key positions near Africa.
