A. G. Prosser, mining engineer for Cambria Steel Co and exalted ruler of Johnstown Elks Lodge, died after a paralytic stroke at Mercy hospital. Born March 19, 1861 in Indiana Pa, he long studied geological strata and coal seams. The Elks will conduct services at 2:30 p.m., with his body in state at the Elks home after 7 p.m.
An advertisement promotes finishing furniture, brackets, tables and radiators with a spray lacquer. It highlights ease of use with a spray can and a small amount of lacquer, credited to J. M. Stewart & Co, 167.

FP KE Herriman, president of the Clearfield Bituminous Coal Corp, told the Senate Interstate Commerce Committee that the United Mine Workers pursue dictation over collective bargaining. He said the union would not arbitrate and that his company pays living wages but spends about 16000 monthly on deputies to guard mines, while sheriffs are paid seven dollars per man.

Pittsburgh March 9. Ralph Maloney 20 was acquitted by a jury after defense argued he was not at work the day of the travelling crane robbery. Jurors heard that Vincent Pikutla was assaulted during the crane operation and robbed of 64. Judge Charles Culver of Bradford presided.
Mr and Mrs J Wilmer Gemmel of S15 Chestnut Street receive congratulations on the arrival of a 4 pound 7 quarter girl at Burnheimer maternity home. Mrs Gemmel formerly Miss Carrie Roberts of Pine Flats and mistress Gemmel are doing nicely.

In Pittsburg March local barbers led by Cravello provided free haircuts and shaves to miners during a strike, offering service rather than cash or food. Cravello, son of a barber, joined fellow barbers to assist workers who could not afford basic grooming, turning the day into a charity drive.

Veteran auto maker Maxwell, a pioneer who helped build the first automobile, died at his home in Worton Maryland. Funeral services are set for this afternoon at 2 o'clock with burial in Peru Indiana tomorrow. He was one of three men who built the first automobile.
Mrs. Lula Mosby of the Pennsylvania Elections Commission has demonstrated an automatic voting machine at the Indiana Hotel lobby, drawing about five viewers per session across 311 demonstrations. Many attendees urged adoption by Pennsylvania with a November constitutional amendment. Mosby plans cost estimates for Indiana County elections and for conducting county elections. The machine, while stationed at the hotel, can be moved to any venue hosting a hundred or more people for demonstrations.
Washington dispatch reports Herbert Hoover will not campaign personally for the Republican nomination. In Indiana and Ohio he relies on allies to bear the Hoover banner and answer platform charges. The aim is to let the office seek the man, not the man seek the office, with any victory or loss framed to preserve prestige.
A quiet Saltsburg wedding united Miss Ines Hines and Everett E. Coleman of Ider's Ridge at the Presbyterian Manse with Rev. George M. Ryall officiating. The bride wore a French beige georgette gown and pink and white roses. Mrs. Coleman has taught in Indiana county Acheola for three years. They will reside in Clarkesburg for now. Edward A. Goodfellow, linked to the Brotherhood Savings & Loan bond scheme, is freed from county jail after six months for receiving stolen property. He left saying he would seek hot baths at Iot Springs. Charles Knapp is serving 15 to 18 months for handling the funds from the unsettled bank bonds.
Rodman Wanamaker, New York merchant and philanthropist, died at his Atlantic City apartment after pneumonia. He inherited the Wanamaker stores in New York Philadelphia and Paris. Policies on his life totaled 7.5 million dollars. He was 65, born February 18 1863 in Philadelphia. Funeral services planned at Lindenhurst Germantown Pa.

Valleyfield Quebec March 9 A defense lawyer said he would not visit George McDonald in Bordeaux prison until his plea to the Justice Minister on March 18 in Ottawa. He may seek a new trial for Donia Julia McDonald and George McDonald as he awaits the wife’s full account of Adelard Bouchard murder. Sheriff Crepin arranged transport to Valleyfield for the gallows scheduled March 23 for the former Mount Vernon North Dakota and Oklahoma girl and her husband.
