General John Armstrong Soldier of War and State
General John Armstrong born 1720 in Ireland immigrated to Pennsylvania in 1745 settled in Kittatinny Valley later Cumberland County. He surveyed Carlisle in 1760 and 1762, horse fire destroyed his records in 1783, served Braddock era, led famed 2800 man force shaping frontier defense and Susquehanna lands.
