Conservatives Hold Two English Seats in Special Elections

In Warwick and Bristol by elections, the Conservative party retained two parliamentary seats. Warwick saw John Hobson 24,948 to Labour's William Wilson 22,971, with Eden's resignation evident in the smaller margin. Bristol saw R G Cooke defeat W T Rodgers 24,585 to 10,423, as Labour vote dipped slightly from 10,766 in 1955. The report notes voter apathy as a factor and Labour gains in other recent specials.
