Juarez Clash Sparks Fire Across Rio Grande

Late reports from El Paso describe heavy fighting in Juarez as Lizebely forces under General Valle clash with Federales from the Juarez Garrison. Federals sweep the city with machine gun fire from roof positions while reinforcements arrive from the south. Grand jury frees Adars in fatal crash case

Wilter McAdams of Reetor West was acquitted on involuntary manslaughter charges in the February 8 auto collision that killed Frank Walter. Evidence showed McAdams may have driven with due care as he stopped at the Bolivar road intersection and proceeded onto the William Penn Highway, colliding with another car.

Ministers to Meet Monday in Indiana County

White House Bible Class Party at United Presbyterian Church

The Young Women's Bible Class taught by Mrs. Blakeley held a White House party in the social rooms of the first United Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Gilbert Fee and Mrs. Albert Warren won the elections for President and Vice President. Miss Kate Adams and Mrs. John Kerr won the guessing contest. About thirty attendees enjoyed the gala event with refreshments.

Zion Lutheran Church hosts a Mother and Daughter Banquet with 270 plates served in 12 minutes under the supervision of J.T. Strassner. Men and boys from Prof. Jas. Rev John J Melvaine to Lead Morning and Evening Services

The Rev John J Melvaine, recently called to United Presbyterian Church, will occupy the pulpit for both morning and evening services Sabbath March 10. He comes to Indiana from Pittsburgh where he led Brookline Boulevard United Presbyterian Church for seven years and served two and a half years in the United States Army during World War I, including 18 months in the Air Service. Morning worship begins at 9 30 and evening worship at 7 30.

Fourteen True Bills Reported by Grand Jury

The grand jury reported fourteen true bills including charges of larceny theft manufacturing and possessing intoxicating liquor assault and battery felonious entry and larceny of an automobile and involuntary manslaughter among others. The day ended with the inquisition and today the jury inspects county buildings and property.

Body found frozen upright on snow near Attawapiskat river

Indian strap pers report returning from headwaters of Attawapiska river in northern Ontario found a white man’s body standing bolt upright on snowshoes. The clothing and effects yielded no identification. The body cannot be recovered until summer due to ice and slush.

Annual State Inspection Of Company L In Blairsville

In Blairsville on March 8 the annual Federal inspection of Company L, 110th Infantry Regiment, Pennsylvania National Guard, was conducted at the local State Armory. Fifty two men participated under Capt. C. J. Keil and Lieuts. M. L. Brown and W. L. McCune, Blairsville officers, with Major Ford Richardson and Major William Fish of the U S A overseeing. Col. John Aiken of Washington, Pa., commander of the 114th Regiment, and Lieut. Col. John W. Woodend of Blairsville observed, along with Capt. N. E. Callen from Washington, Pa.

Police Chief Found Guilty in Assault Trial

Chief of Police A. Livingston of Dravesburg was found guilty by a jury of aggravated assault and battery. Prosecuted by Lee Allen and his wife Della, the case also saw Constable W. O. Finley and Deputy Constable Elmer Hunter acquitted. Livingston plans appeal.

Rail barons clash as consolidations reshape eastern steam lines

March reports from Wall Street describe a renewed fight among major eastern rail systems over rights of way across half the country. Two Schools Prey to Flames In Franklin Township

Two school buildings burned to the ground in Franklin township causing damage and forcing occupants to evacuate. Franklin school, a local landmark, was damaged heavily as investigators search for the cause believed to stem from an overheated chimney. Estimated loss set at sixteen thousand dollars.
