Clarksburg Man Robert H. McConnell Jr. Dies in Route 286 Wreck
Robert H. McConnell Jr. 30 of Clarksburg RD 1 died in a late night one car crash near Route 286 1.5 miles west of Route 56. His overturned car was found in a small stream by a passing motorist at 5 45 p m Saturday. Coroner Thomas Streams ruled massive skull injuries. McConnell was a Merchant Marine captain with a storied career including ships USS Maryland and USS Baltimore. He raised Arabian horses at Pattisan Arabian Farms and was to train in Grenoble France before joining Energy Transportation Corp. He is survived by his mother three sisters and two brothers with funeral set at Ferguson Helm Blairsville. Donations to a memory scholarship urged.
