Battleship Pennsylvania Scuttled After Pearl Harbor Service
The Pennsylvania, survivor of Pearl Harbor and Bikini tests, was sunk near Kwajalein on February 10 after being deemed unseaworthy. Two other ships, Trippe and Banner, were also scuttled for progressive deterioration. The vessel, once the flagship, endured 13 combats and 75,000 gun salvos, and required massive decontamination to salvage.
