The Punxsutawney Spirit urges Hon. J. N. Langham to seek a second term in Congress. It notes no record of dereliction, praising his zeal, prompt attention to constituents, and alignment with Republican policies, arguing for renomination without opposition.
W. C. McKee of Wayne Avenue, son of J. M. McKee, former Y M C A secretary in New York, was chosen general superintendent of the Emma Farms Association in Pittsburgh with a salary around 4000 dollars annually. A Blairsville graduate, he taught at Blairsville and studied law, later admitted to practice in New York City. The Emma Farms Institution aids orphaned children in Allegheny County with land donated by a Kaufman.
Ed C. Cisnaon opens a new restaurant in a new building on E Philadelphia Street inviting old and new customers. The eatery offers quick service, popular prices, special rates for regular boarders, with lunches served at all hours.
Walter Calderwood nine months old, son of Mr and Mrs W S Calderwood of Kane, died Tuesday evening from injuries after being struck by a freight train on February 19 while walking along the railroad. His right leg was crushed and amputated at the hip, he temporarily improved after surgery but later declined. His parents formerly lived in Rochester Mills and Punxsutawney, and the funeral was held at Kane.
The Gazette urges contestants to work hard for votes in the Bermuda Contest as the race tightens. Chaperon expenses are covered by the paper, with a conductor from Thomas Cook & Son arranging travel from New York. Judges for final counting include J Blair Sutton, D Lynn Moorhead, and J Eldar Peeler.
Indiana School Board discussed changing this year’s commencement to a play The Captain of Plymouth about Miles Standish. A dress rehearsal will be free for all pupils to attend, while evening tickets require a 25 cent reserved seat or 15 cent general admission.
Dr. Bertha Caldwell, Fifth ward school controller, visited Barnesboro schools, after touring Johnstown schools with Prof. Williams. She found two modern, well equipped buildings and noted the board’s progressive stance. Teachers were sent to Johnstown to inspect and gain new ideas.
Indiana area residents were seen in forenoon and midweek movements. Homer City’s H C English and Plumville’s Turner Douds visited Indiana, with Mr. and Mrs. M C Kenny of East Run also there. Mrs. J M Guthrie improving after four weeks ill. Detroit trip planned for Mr. and Mrs. Charles R Work and their children. several others relocated or visiting friends.
J H Keough bought the old J J Mildren farm near Blacklick from E B Campbell and Jess Rodkey and plans a coal mine and brick factory using the farm's fire clay seam. Keough formerly worked as a contractor at Clymer.
Public sale on Saturday March 5 at 2 PM of the late Hiram St Clair property on Railroad Avenue. The 60 by 180 foot lot has a two story frame house a small frame store building and a frame stable. E. B. Campbell and G. P. McCartney spent Wednesday and today in Pittsburg to purchase a new boiler to supplement the battery at the Indiana Provision Co plant.
The Indiana Fire Association holds a regular meeting at 7 30 tonight at the First Ward engine house. It is urged that all members be present.
Boggs and McGregor announce a sale Friday featuring 50 high quality horses. Prospective buyers are urged to attend, as the lot is unusually fine.

A Philadelphia man named Brown has taken options on about 6000 acres of coal between Cookport and Cherrytree west of Cush Creek. The options, said to be at 60 dollars per acre, expire on April 1.
Boggs and McGregor announce a public sale tomorrow featuring sixty admired horses. The lot attracts strong interest as buyers await the event.
Miss Edna Sangom entertained a party of friends at cards last Saturday night to honor Mrs Charles R Work, with social games and refreshments following the gathering.

A new Savings & Trust Co bank building features a giant fire and burglar proof vault. Inside dimensions are 12 by 12 feet with an 8 foot ceiling, triple chrome steel walls, a seven foot diameter circular door weighing 10 tons, and a bronze inner gate guarding 200 safe deposit boxes. Finishing touches are underway and occupancy hoped by April first.
Mrs. Sallie E. Mikesell of East Philadelphia street faced a lace fire in her upstairs room last week. The lace from New York was cleaned with gasoline and ignited after the package was opened near an open gas jet, causing $50 in damage before she extinguished the blaze.
Thorne and Wilson Hamilton of Elkin bought the Grumbling farm near Georgeville for 5700 dollars. The tract includes about 100 acres of timber reported as the best standing in the area. Purchasers plan to install a mill and market lumber next summer.
Reports from Pittsburg indicate D. B. Heiner, the internal revenue collector for the Pittsburg district, is to be reappointed. Rumors suggest a Pittsburg native may succeed him, but details remain unconfirmed.
Fire destroyed the store building of D C Duncan at Tannelton on the night of February 24. The stack of goods owned by Abram Put was nearly all recovered. The loss on the building was about 700 dollars.
A party of 36 Normal School people will enjoy a chicken and waffle supper served by the W. G. T. U. in their rooms on Church street this evening. Also advertising cheap razor blades and a “fine Greatty Cooking veagelz” at A. T. Taylor & Son's with a special sale this week opposite the jail.
