Radio Sets Course For Lifeboat
Dayton, March 1. Development of a radio controlled life boat that can be guided to survivors and set on course from an aircraft was announced by the Air Force. The A-3 lifeboat is 30 feet long, carries 14 men, and is dropped by a 100 foot parachute. Once in water an automatic sequence releases stabilizing fins rudder guard and engine vents. A plane radio operator then controls speed direction and position to reach survivors and dock them. The system, from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, will be installed in all A-3 lifeboats by early 1952.

Harmless Mental Case Shifts Town Into Panic
A youth described by his father as a harmless mentally challenged boy opened fire in Palm Beach injuring his grandmother and others as a police chase ended with capture. The 11 year old boy, Hugh Berry, formerly of Knoxville, fired a shotgun at his father and a patrolman while attempting to shoot his mother before fleeing in a car. The grandmother and father were wounded. the mother was not seriously harmed. The case continues as investigators seek motive and details.
