Lightning Hits Three Spots In Town Storm
A severe thunderstorm at 2:15 yesterday afternoon caused three lightning strikes in different areas of town. Mrs Laura Elkin Stewart and her Oakland avenue home were briefly scorched as a bolt traveled through a dresser lamp to ignite window framing. A second bolt struck the Street Railway Station area, blowing out transformer and signal-light circuitry at the Street Car Company office but was put out with a extinguisher before major damage. Passersby at Hess confectionery and restaurant were momentarily blinded by the same fiery ball.

Samuel P. McDonald, son of Samuel and Mary McDonald and a Brushvalley township native, died suddenly at his Peabody Kansas home yesterday. He was a prominent Kansas figure in agricultural, civic, religious and Masonic circles. He was uncle to William Wilson Mrs M M Davis and Mrs John G St Clair, siblings of his mother the late Mrs W T Wilson. Funeral arrangements are not known here.
