Fatal crash at Glen Campbell Burnside crossing records two stone masons
Victor Nelson aged 60 and Nilag N Hollis aged 64, both Indiana stone masons, were killed or seriously injured when their Chevrolet coupe was struck by a P. R. R. freight locomotive at the Glen Campbell Burnside crossing around 6:40 PM. Nelson died from a fractured jaw, broken leg and internal injuries. Hollis suffered facial lacerations, contusions to the left arm and leg, and internal injuries. They had just begun a week’s work and did not know the crossing’s danger as Hollis attempted to descend a steep grade blocked by embankment and trees. The driver’s view was obstructed. both men were riding to Burnside to room and board.
