The Copenhagen fliers concern grows as Post and Gatty complete a thousand mile hop from Berlin toward Moscow in eight hours. The daring airmen push toward a circumnavigation milestone, testing endurance and navigation across the European theatre.
The Winnie Mae led by Wiley Post and Harold Gatty reached Moscow after 5,000 miles from New York, aiming to circle the globe in a record-breaking trip. The Liberty carrying Otto Hillig and Holger Horrs was overdue after departing Harbor Grace for Copenhagen, missing since 3:30 a.m. EST yesterday, with 32 hours late at Copenhagen.
The Blairsville American Legion Post No. 407 announces silver and gold loving cups for race winners at the speed program tied to the American Legion celebration at the Fair Grounds on Saturday July 4. In addition to 300 purses for each of five races, winning owners receive cups. another cup goes to the fastest heat winner. Cups funded by Blairsville merchants and owners including George Wilkinson, Joseph Luxenberg, Maurice Stern, Brody Brothers Department Store, and S C Streams.

Joseph Gelgonia 29 Seward allegedly confessed to beating Mrs. Elizabeth Potts 42 then held her head under water in the Conemaugh River until death. He disposed of the body, swam to shore, and then turned himself in at Johnstown jail. Potts formerly lived in Johnstown.
Clair Cook and Elmer Cook of Jeannette waived hearing before Squire Walter H. Jackson and were held for court in $1,000 bail each. Constable J. Clair Iewin charged them with larceny after they were taken from their brother-in-law’s home near Jeannette. They allegedly stripped a Grant Smith’s car in Green township, stole parts and chickens from a Smith chicken coop and reportedly confessed on Friday night June 12.
The Municipal Band will perform this evening at 8:00 at the bandstand on the McCrory lot, Philadelphia street. The program includes marches and tunes such as Semper Fidelis Overture Crown of Jewels Red Mill selections and Fox Trot numbers. Also notes a church meeting for Presbyterian men at 8:00 this Friday inviting all members to hear Herbert W Hillis speak on Wanted Men enjoy fellowship and meals.

Harrisburg June 25 The Richards bill approved by Governor Pinchot amends the voting machine law granting the Secretary of the Commonwealth authority to buy machines if county commissioners fail to act within a year after voter approval. County controller approval becomes mandatory and district size is set from 600 to 600 voters.
In Canonsburg Pennsylvania five people escaped injury when a bomb demolished the front of miner Walter Marchenck’s home. He and his family were hurled from bed but none injured as State Troopers patrolled the Western Pennsylvania coal fields and guards resumed work at Pittsburgh Terminal Coal Company under the United Mine Workers of America agreement.
Herbert W. Wis of Greensburg will address the Presbyterian men in the church social hall Friday June 26 at 7 P M on Wanted Men The gathering will also mark the Leech Bible Class monthly business meeting Plans for the July and August meetings will be partly devoted to picnic planning.
The Welte-Tripp pipe organ designed by J Bell of Pittsburgh and built by Welte Tripp Organ Corporation of Sound Beach Conn. is installed in the Methodist Episcopal church. The four manual instrument has over 3000 pipes, 83 stops, rear echo chamber, independent expression for each manual, ten horsepower blower, wind pressure 5 to 10 inches, and chimes of 26 notes playable from multiple manuals. The organ is described as a work of art in design, construction and tone, with tuning to be completed in days.
Two applications to erect new broadcasting stations in Western Pennsylvania were denied by the Federal Radio Commission. The applicants named were J. Milton Guyton of Uniontown and Paul F. Klingensmith of Youngwood.
Scott Palmer of Blacklick R D 3 was arrested in Huntingdon by state police and brought to Blairsville for a hearing before Squire Ralph Brown. He was committed to county jail in default of $5,000 bond to await court, accused of passing a forged $260 check on First National Bank of Blairsville on May 4. Grace Beers Guild to host a strawberry supper June 25 from 6 to 8 PM in the Lutheran Church Social Room, 50 cents admission.
Homer City boy Steve Setlock Jr. 6 died after falling from a thirty foot cliff into Two Lick Creek while swimming with companions near Homer City. Three others injured in separate incidents, including Daniel Price Jones and Mrs Anna Mane Rininger, all taken to Indiana Hospital with lacerations and possible head injuries.
About 900 striking miners from Sagamore in Armstrong County headed to Sykesville Jefferson County to establish picket lines at Buffalo and Susquehanna Coal Company mines. Led by John Ghizzoni international organizer of the United Mine Workers of America they aimed to include 500 Sykesville district workers. The march followed a Sagamore strike led by the National Miners Union with UMWA taking charge and planning settlement talks.
