The Justice Department approved the sale of a government owned foundry in New Castle Pennsylvania to Mesta Machine Co of Pittsburgh. GSA said legal documents would be prepared and signed at a date to be set. Mesta offered 10 748 932 dollars over 20 years for the property at an auction held April 20.

Court Rule On Bus Segregation
A three judge federal panel in a 2 1 vote issued an injunction against Montgomery Alabama bus segregation laws. The panel suspended the injunction for 10 days to allow appeal. If no appeal by June enforcement of the laws will go into effect. The action challenges city and state mandates requiring separate seating for white and Negro passengers on public buses. The judges noted a likely Supreme Court review next year. Martin Luther King Jr says most of Montgomery's 50 000 Negroes will continue to boycott until action ends bus segregation.
