Convention Chaos as Taft Leads in Roll Call
The chaotic national convention erupts as a roaring gallery stage shifts to Roosevelts supporters while Lodge orders a full state roll call. Taft leads early, but final tallies show Taft 701, Roosevelt 3, La Follette 25, with other votes for Hughes Knox Foraker and Cannon. The platform battle ends with a large bloc backing a candidate and calls for unity after a tumultuous day.
