Locals Honor Visiting Officers at Veterans Auxiliary Meeting

Mrs McKelvey of Pittsburgh and Mrs Libby Meis attended the William I Buchanan Auxiliary meeting as honored visitors. They spoke on floor work and ritual procedures. Johnstown will host the annual Division Encampment of the Pennsylvania Grand Army of the Republic and allied groups on June 18 to 20. Delegates from Indiana County plan to attend with the Sons of Veterans Drum Corps. No parade, but a reception at Fort Stanwix Hotel and a Campfire at the Cambria Theatre are planned. Delegates depart June 6:10 by train. round trip fare $1.75. Blairsville, Cockport and Richmond Camps will send representatives. Richard W. Watson, Past Commander of the Indiana Camp, will preside as View Commander.

A Swiss correspondent reports Kiel says German monster submarines exceed 2000 tons with thousands of miles of range and silent noiseless motors. Four cruisers built, crew over 100, surface speed over 20 knots, submerged 12 knots, armed with multiple guns torpedo tubes. Smaller subs claim 18 mph underwater and 20 to 30 torpedoes.

D Ath of Mr Wellington Bley

Wellington Bley aged about 62 died at Cresson Sanitorium yesterday morning. The body to be brought to Indiana for funeral services Sunday at 2 o clock at his sister Mrs Jacob Weltling’s home on Water street. He leaves two sisters Mrs Jacob Wettling and Mrs M A Riddle, one brother Calvin Bley, and a son Charles Bley. He lived in Indiana all his life and was a carpenter by trade. Private interment in Oakland cemetery.
