The Indiana County Street Railways Company will cease all service after 1 a m Saturday July 1 following a two week notice to employees. The board cited reduced revenue in passenger and freight departments and inability to finance as reasons for abandoning trolley operations on Creekside and Blairsville lines. Hugh Himer Smith aged 61, long-time Indiana Borough employee, died at Indiana Hospital from complications after a horse accident three months earlier. Born in Young township, he was a member of Second United Presbyterian Church. Survived by brother J. C. Smith of West Lebanon and sister Martha Smith of Wilkinsburg. Funeral at his brother’s home Thursday at 2 PM, interment in Shelocta United Presbyterian cemetery.

A new timetable for the Indiana Branch of the Pennsylvania Railroad cuts service to two round trips daily and two each Sunday. Effective Sunday June 18, northbound trains depart Torrence at 6 15 am and 10 am arriving Indiana at 7 00 am and 10 35 am respectively. Southbound trains depart Indiana at 7 55 am and 3 35 pm arriving Torrence at 8 35 am and 4 15 pm. Sunday northbound leaves Torrence 1 05 pm arriving Indiana 1 50 pm, and 6 35 pm to 7 20 pm. Sunday southbound leaves Indiana 5 20 pm arriving Torrence 6 00 pm, and 8 05 pm arriving 8 45 pm. Connections at Torrence not yet fixed.

Hagenbeck-Wallace pay car looted in Philadelphia
On June 14 three armed bandits looted the Hagenbeck-Wallace Circus pay car in Upper Darby near Philadelphia, stealing more than 6000 dollars in cash. Guards had the car at bay before the trio fled in a high powered Indiana plated car. Police issued a teletype description as the money was last night’s receipts awaiting bank deposit. Three guards were assigned to the pay car.

Harrisburg June 14. Industrial satellites in Pennsylvania declined from 81 in April to 58 in May while non fatal accidents rose from 5504 to 5808 in the past month. A Lehigh Bernstein Bedding Company plant in Allentown was destroyed by fire with estimated losses near 200000. Watchman Monroe Freeholder, 25, was rescued from a second floor office as flames trapped him.
