The Union Vacation Bible School overseen by Blairsville Protestant churches opened at 8:45 AM in the High School with many children enrolled. Jesse McGraw aged 50 fell from a railroad bridge near Bolivar on Sunday. He is hospitalized at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown, in serious condition with a concussion and a fractured left clavicle. His status was unfavorable last night. McGraw works for the Penn Public Service Operation.
John L Porter chairman of the board of trustees announced a $5,000 gift to Carnegie Institute of Technology endowment fund. The gift will join an $8,000,000 Carnegie Corporation pledge if trustees raise $4,000,000 locally by July 1, 1946.
The State Council of Education approves converting the Pennsylvania State Normal Schools into four year teacher colleges. Eight schools Bloomsburg Edinboro East Stroudsburg Indiana Mansfield Shippensburg Slippery Rock West Chester may confer bachelor of science in education and Indiana Mansfield may offer music and home economics degrees. Two and three year curricula remain, with four year courses gradually introduced.
