Mrs. Coolidge hosted spring garden parties at the White House, turning the lower floors into event space after a thunderstorm drenched the grounds. Guests entered through the East Room, mingling in a democratic atmosphere despite party lines, with diplomats and officials in formal attire blending with business attire.
Secretary of Labor Jin Davia wears a red in buttonhole as if in diplomat mood while Edwin Denby and General Sawyer appear in tailored attire.
