Five GIs Killed In Truck Crash In Germany
Five American soldiers died and eight were injured when their five ton truck missed a bridge and plunged into the Main River between Wertheim and Kreuzwertheim West Germany. The crew from the 7th Infantry Division in Aschaffenburg reportedly left the road in a sharp turn toward the Main River bridge. Divers recovered four bodies and then a fifth, with rescuers from local fire brigades the US Army 3rd Infantry Division West German police life savers and Red Cross workers aiding the operation. The injured were taken to Wertheim and Würzburg hospitals.

Moffett Leads Bid to Rename Mine Workers Union
At the District 50 convention last April Moffett pushed to change the union name by removing United Mine Workers from the banner. The same meeting saw W A Tony Boyle defeat Joseph A Yablonski of Clarksville Pa Yablonski was later murdered along with his wife and daughter five suspects face charges. Boyle allegedly ousted District 50 years ago after the district halted eight million dollars in loans the union said it was owed. The dispute over the money now heads to federal court. Marlin Brennan Wilkes Barre Pa won the vice presidency defeating William J Foley Boston Mass and Robert R Fohl Richmond Va.
