Fragmentary notes on early state house and hotels

The readable text mentions hotels occupying spaces begun in 1855 and wagons with pree ant. It notes a state house built as one of the finest, completed, and serving as a home for Freece, then burned down. The fragmentary记 references a burned state house and efforts to keep the state from danger.

Boy survives six story fall at Hotel Alms site

In Cincinnati on June 3 Theodore Haefner, son of the Hotel Alms owner, fell six stories from his parents’ apartment window. A screen gave way but he landed in a newly planted flower bed and escaped injury. Physicians found no lasting harm and he seems unfazed by the incident.

Border Raid and Destruction of a Town in 1863

A fragment recalls Quantrell and his raiders sweeping into a border town on August 21, 1863, burning and pillaging as townsfolk watched in fear and awe during the Confederate guerrilla raid.

Eldridge House rebuilt after devastating raid

The raid left 160 dead and many wounded as fires consumed most buildings including the Eldridge House. The Eldridges rebuilt the hotel the following year on a new site, smaller but adequate for its era.

All Because of a Cow to Be Razed for New Hotel

A long feature recalls Kodet the showman and his East 125th Street museum. The planned hotel will replace the building housing a quirky collection of relics, oddities, and living curiosities once showcased by Kodet, who traced showmanship to P T Barnum. The piece notes famed freaks, odd artifacts, and a fading old museum circuit.
