A late 18th century church organ built from 800 pipes once served both congregations rotating weekly. It drew visitors from miles around who whispered about its cost, moved during the Civil War, and later became a feature of the annual Old Church service. A government bond versus pawn ticket note follows.
The High School season ends with 2 resignations, including principal Hugh Bell, and two teaching vacancies remain. The Fire Company buys a five-number Lyceum Course from Neilson Lyceum Bureau for coming winter, to be praised as a fine addition. The Manse work advances despite wet weather as walls near pouring.
Mr William Waltermire is on the sick list. Mrs Elmer Lame and daughters Mary and Claire called on Mrs John McCoy last Saturday. Families including the McQueeneys and Mollie Ruggles visited in Union town. Indiana Normal employed Mr D H Kephart of near Kenwood. Mr Regex Croyle and Carlye Croyle drove to Indiana on business. Thomas McQueeney bought a new Ford from Sutton Miller Co in Indiana. Irvin Croyie and John Gregg visited Indiana Tuesday. Theo Berkey of Indiana, Fuller Brush agent, called on Mr and Mrs John Engle Tuesday. Will Kephart works for Allen Martin on his farm. Mrs Frank Coy of Heilwood called on her father William Waltermore Thursday who is slowly improving from a long illness. Mrs Barney Holmes called on Mrs Michael McQueeney Thursday. Elmer Lamer hauls motor ties to Heilwood recently.
