Pittsburgh June 2 Two squads of armed county detectives led by Chief George Murren search the Horning Baldwin mining community for a negro known as Nick who fled to the hills after shooting a county detective and two deputies. He was cornered by Ben Kalinowski and Felix Becowski, who were deputized, when the suspect fired with a shotgun wounding both in the legs and body. Elmer Mann, another negro, had followed a party fight.

Wednesday evening at Cliffords Park Fess Williams and his Royal Flush Orchestra, makers of Victor records, will be the dance attraction. The group has been a hit nationwide and next Friday opens in Chicago for the Beaser tour. Bernie Cummins and his brother Walter of New York visited here yesterday. Bernie leads the New Yorkers orchestra and plans a late June or early July Indiana date.
Fire at the Marienville glass bottle plant caused extensive damage estimated at 175000 dollars. The facility had closed over Memorial Day and was fired up Saturday night. a gas ignition failure triggered a series of explosions. King Glass Bottle Company officials anticipate a new plant may be built in the near future.
The Sunday School and Young People's Union of the Regular Baptist Churches of Indiana Association will hold its convention at Blairsville Regular Baptist Church on June 11 and 12. A rally of Christian and Missionary Alliance members from Indiana attended the Young People’s Rally at Coalport. Rev William MacTavish drove a truck to transport attendees. Miss Lewis, furloughing from Africa, spoke on heathen darkness and enlightenment. The event drew many youths from various sections and the next rally is planned for Labor Day at Clymer.
Reading Pa June 2. At the Socialist party state convention the platform endorsed the manufacture and sale of light wines and beer by the government as part of their election platform. The wet plank passed 38 to 21 after heated debate. A resolution condemning the British Labor Government failed to pass along with a resolution favoring total disarmament.
