Fifty thousand Scouts from 31 parts of the British Empire and 41 other nations gather at Arrowe Park for the world jamboree of the Boy Scouts Association. The Duke of Connaught opens the event with Baden Powell present, as US contingents and a Elizabeth, N J troop lead the American participation in this mass youth gathering. The jamboree runs to August 12 with visits by the Prince of Wales and US Ambassador Dawes noted as guests.

Bridge realignment and new concrete roadway project in Wheatfield
