A July 30 note announces the Dutch Picnic at Mapleview Park on August 9 with a Kanalooza theme. Prizes for various Dutch figures, parking for over 1,000 cars, recitations, races, loud speakers, and a Dutch band are planned. Posey More promises entertainment and there is strong community turnout expected.
Exportation of scrap iron set new records in 1934 as European countries accounted for 86 percent of all shipments from the country. The report highlights rising demand and the shift in trade patterns affecting domestic industries and port activity.
Nine children summarized here show an average age of 72 with continued notes from page one. The burgh elder died near 90, the mother died at 91, and she was James McHenry’s daughter from North Point. Her father bought 600 acres at $1 an acre to start the settlement, with most residents today as his descendants. Apart from accidents and confinements the family has had good health and no doctor was needed.
A string of weekend crashes across Pennsylvania and New Jersey left several dead and many injured. In 1873 a woman met her future husband Dr L H Hughes a Denison physician and railroad surgeon. She taught school three years and married in 1876. five children born, four boys and a girl, with two infant losses. Surviving children include Dr Lea E. Hughes Commodore Robert D. Hughes Brookville and Miss Gertrude Hughes Dennison. Mrs Hughes moved to Dennison in 1882 and remained a devoted parishioner of the Railway Chapel later Denison Presbyterian Church. George B Reese, 68, died at his Sagamore home after illness and is survived by his widow Mollie and two sisters Sella Hoover and Clara Snyder of Bellefonte. funeral at Sagamore followed by interment at Glebe Hill cemetery Punxsutawney.

Pittsburgh July 30 A posthumous entreaty to six children to tie good and moral lives and take care of their inheritance was in the will of John Briana Sr who died here July 30. The estate worth $20 000 allocated varying shares to Matilda F Gumperburg John H Jr Thilga Parrot Conrad A Joseph A and Thomas J Friend. The will says if any child is dissatisfied they shall be cut off with $5 and their share divided among the other five.
In Philadelphia a passenger and motorman distracted by a question caused a collision of two trolleys at a Market street crossing. Twenty two people were injured and many shaken after one car derailed and struck a telephone pole, shattering windows.
A 16 inning pitchers duel between Davis of Indiana and Kenneth Lucerne finished 2 to 2 after darkness halted play. Errors and late rallies fueled the scoring, with Lucerne’s misplays opening the door for Indiana. A playoff date is being considered, with opening night under lights slated for Tuesday at the Electric Co. field.
