County Commissioner McGovern blasted the $2,000,000 airport project as a colossal bungle with mismanagement and poor planning. London July 30 INS reports the British dirigible R-100 nearing the halfway point to Montreal after a routing change to the shortest east west path. Squadron Leader R. Booth guides the craft at 50 to 60 mph amid varying weather as Montreal awaits at St Hubert Airport with forecasts of fog and favorable mooring conditions.
Harrisburg July 80 The improved concrete road on Traffic Route 843 in Indiana County now finished for 0.38 miles. Chief Engineer Samuel Hekels said the project cost 240479.40 dollars, shared by state and Indiana county. The work improves alignment and surface between Tr Rt 80 near Commodore and connects toward Cherry Tree, with a half mile section under construction to complete a hard surface route.
Weirton Steel investigators probe a tin plate plant blast in Clarksburg West Virginia that instantly killed foreman John Yohn 65 and water tender Harvey Barker 40 and seriously injured five others including Elwood Yoho 54 Edward Read 28 J W T Sander 29 and Duodinsky 86.
Two men armed with revolvers posed as detectives and abducted guests Mrs. Dorothy Doyle and Mrs. Eppa Davin from Barness Hotel. They forced night clerk Andrew Blackman to guide them to apartment 116, then drove away with the victims. Blackman was later dumped from the car. police were alerted to threats of killing the women.

Harley B. Cutshall prominent Democrat and Crawford County Board of Commissioners member died suddenly at his home. Death was attributed to apoplexy. He also served one term as sheriff and is survived by his widow three daughters and one brother.

Washington July 30 The Interstate Commerce Commission ruled that freight rates on coal in carloads from the anthracite district in Pennsylvania to northern New Jersey destinations were unreasonable and fixed a reasonable rate scale. It found rates to Warbasse Sparta and Sparta Junction not unreasonable, and rejected proposed increases as unjustified.
Punxsutawney reports Hany Delimoachak 45 a coal worker employed by R and P Coal Company died instantly when he improvised and ignited a dynamite fuse. His body was found in a vacant field at Yates Ford near here. He was believed despondent due to financial pressures affecting his wife and six children.
Sixty four lady members attended the regular monthly luncheon and bridge at the Indiana Country Club House yesterday. After a pleasant meal and bridge, many stayed to spend a few hours playing golf.
Acting County Coroner Dr. M M Davis led an inquiry into Merle White’s death after drowning in Little Yellow Creek Sunday evening. The investigation determined the cause of death as accidental drowning.
