Nemacolin Back at Work in Mines of Nemacolin

About 870 men returned to the Nemacolin Mine in Nemacolin Pennsylvania today as 2,200 more were set to return tomorrow in three Northern West Virginia mines. W H Gales said operations would resume at Youngstown Sheet and Tube’s Nemacolin mine while Bethlehem Steel mines in Barrackville Dakota and Richard West Virginia were also restarting after a strike. Union leaders said work would continue under a wage negotiations process to replace an expired contract from April.

Lincoln Way Ready to Open as Construction Edges Near Completion

Lincoln Way projects near completion as a 4 lane link between Greensburg and Adamsburg nears 90 percent finish. Donatella of Pittsburgh won the $386000 contract for the Greensburg Adamsburg segment while Conte Eastwood of Pittsburgh handled the 4.43 mile Irwin to Allegheny county line section at $429000. Work began November 24 last year and the road will close from March 22. Delays due to rain extended the timetable with at least two more months needed to finish both ends.

Opposition grows over recess and omnibus plan

Senator Byrnes as new Reorganization Committee chair said there is little appetite to consider the House bill separately from the omnibus measure. Conservation officials tour Beaver Run watershed project

Harry O. Kimmel of Sheloits project manager of the Beaver Run watershed joined a group from the United States Department of Agriculture visiting Greensburg and Westmoreland County to survey soil conservation work. He said 85 percent of farmers in the survey area have signed with the bureau to implement the plan over five years. The project is the second largest in Pennsylvania with Indiana County hosting the largest.

Moose Plan For Convention In Johnstown

The Western Pennsylvania Association of the Moose will hold its first animal convention in Johnstown August 6 to 8. One hundred and thirty lodges joined the association at Clarion last March. Pittsburgh July 28 seven hundred flood control advocates praised a new program to curb flooding in Western Pennsylvania. Mayor C D Scully hailed a long term plan with millions to fund dams and projects. Rep J Buell Snyder noted a 105 million dollar House bill and land acquisition for reservoirs proceeds.
