Rome July 26 The Pope Pius XI sprained his right foot and suspended public audiences though his condition is not serious and he continues private and semi private sessions. Forty officials attended Throne Hall at the Vatican today as the accident was noted.
In Connellsville Pennsylvania on July 26, Thomas Kelly was overcome by black damp in a Morrell coal mine. Bert Hillen entered the pit to help, found Kelly 1,000 feet from the entrance unable to move, and rushed for aid as his own strength waned. Kelly revived about 45 minutes after rescue.
Belle Vernon Pa July 24 Lucinda Boynd a 15 year old Belle Vernon High School pupil recounts being abducted by five Monessen youths. Three suspects Owen Brown 28 paves Brown 21 Henry Laird 23 are arrested while two others Harold Shep lar and Fred Harrison remain sought. She claims she was forced into a car at gunpoint taken to hotels and doped during a three day disappearance.
