Silver Anniversary Elderton Class of 1944 Reunion
Elderton High School Class of 1944 held its 25th reunion at Scotty's Restaurant on Saturday July 19 with 10 graduates and their wives present. Former teachers Richard R. Heckart and Mrs Glenna Mae Wood were honored guests along with several local organizers and attending classmates including Delone Keeler Gastown Kenneth Lawton Leechburg Mrs Samuel Bernadine Saxton Long and Mrs Rudolph Lucille Haponski Ford City. A program of introductions recollections and anecdotes followed dinner and readings from absent teachers were shared. Plans for another gathering in the coming years are underway.

Scholarship Loan Plan Approved in Pennsylvania
The House approved 174 to 17 a $54 million appropriation for Pennsylvania's college scholarship loan program. Over $51.4 million funds scholarships, about $5 million above last year but short of the $60 million sought by Gov. Shafer. PHEAA expects to issue grants for the fall once the appropriation is assured, with roughly 115,000 applications in processing and more than 67,000 scholarships awarded last year.

Tito Praises American Feat at Brioni Meeting
