A steamship passenger known as Senorita faced detention overnight at an island port due to irregularities in her papers. The case was not resolved and her departure to Cuba remained deferred, with officials hinting the matter could be dropped if she sailed as planned.
Fred Windsor, former Dempsey manager, says Jack McCann a 20 year old North Dakota cowboy may rise to heavyweight glory. McCann, 6 feet, 180 pounds, Irish descent, has won three coast bouts including one with Al Hoag, and resembles Dempsey. Windsor aims for him to fight top heavies in two years. He recalls a prior feud with Dempsey and a dressing room fight in San Francisco.
Winsor describes backing Dempsey into a clothes closet during a fight scene, pinning him to prevent a swing, then delivering a flurry of blows before fleeing the arena. He avoided Dempsey until the feud cooled and the pair later became friends again.
Eng July 23. With planes overhauled and engines tuned the American round the world flyers await Washington clearance to begin the return voyage across the Atlantic. Lieut Lowell Smith said he would lead the flight tomorrow as final tests proceed and patrol boats assigned to mark the course are not yet in place.
Dublin July 23 De Valera says his fight for an Irish Republic will continue vigorously yet constitutionally. The Irish Republican leader, just released from a Free State jail, states he rejects the oath of allegiance but will support the constitution. He declares rebels are those who stand against the Republic.
Los Angeles July 23. An X ray will be taken today to assess the elbow damage of heavyweight champ Jack Dempsey from a San Juan Capistrano car crash. Dempsey, up and about, reports his other injuries improving. he will likely be unable to fight for several weeks. Florence Lee, a fan, among others injured, also improving.
Federal agents raided a large Broadway hotel and the Belle Clair roof scene, arresting a waiter and a captain of waiters, with summons served on W Heath manager. The raids followed a similar July 11 Ritz Carlton roof operation as agents posed as boxing promoters. Trials set for July 28 before Judge MecClintic.
Fracksville Pa date announced for dedicatory services of the new Zion's Lutheran church the third erected by the congregation following 1874 and 1804 builds. Harrisburg A reprieve was issued for Joseph Valotta Allegheny County murderer condemned to die Monday. Stay granted after writ of habeas corpus returnable August by a federal court judge in Pittsburgh.

Hazleton mayoral order ends dancing after 10 PM in private homes and public events. Citizens who favor early bedtimes cited noise from dances as reason for ban. The move follows complaints from residents disturbed by late music in the area.
