Sheep Sale Highlights County Auction At Mack Center
The Indiana County Sheep and Wool Growers Association conducted a Thursday sheep sale at the J. S. Mack Community Center. The top Hampshire ram sold for 95 dollars as 17 rams averaged 55.50. Twelve ewes averaged 35.50 with Pete Stewart as auctioneer. Ben Morgan of Penn State led an pre-sale educational meeting on industry outlook, foot care, and trimming. The state department demonstrated a portable dipping vat as about 75 people attended.

Explorer Into Orbit Near Moon After Retraction Trigger
Explorer Lunar Explorer reached an orbit around the moon after a jolting blast from a braking retrorocket. Launched Wednesday from Cape Kennedy, the satellite will study radiation and other hazards for future moon missions. A Goddard Space Flight Center station instructed the retrorocket at 5 19 a.m. as the craft finished its 225 608 mile journey.
