Former Chief Accountant AtlISC Dies

John W. Price longtime chief accountant at Indiana State College for 27 years died at 1 a.m. at his home 937 Church St Indiana. He was husband of Lillian Hazlett Price and well known locally. Visitation at Robinson-Lytie's Funeral Home Indiana Thursday 2-4 and 7 p.m. Services Friday at 2 p.m. Rev Harold W. Abram officiating. Interment Oakland Cemetery. Weather Outlook Mixed Clouds and Heat With Storms

Partly cloudy hot and humid today and Thursday with scattered thunderstorms in the area mainly from 3 PM to midnight through Thursday. Highs reach 82 to 90 degrees, lows 63 to 70 tonight.

Heatwave grips nation as storms lash the Midwest

The nation endures extreme heat with temperatures in the 90s across Central Arizona and widespread 70s to 80s elsewhere. Torrential storms hit the Midwest on Tuesday causing at least five deaths and several injuries while light rain provides little relief from the muggy heat. Some relief arrives in New England, northern New York, the northern Rockies and western Dakotas.

Severe storms hit Johnstown and Somerset causing flooding and outages

Heavy rains and lightning struck Johnstown and New Centerville, with 4.09 inches in Millcreek watershed and floods pushing water through streets. Four houses hit by lightning, 800 telephone lines out, mayor declares emergency in Morrellsville, and four of 25 New Centerville homes damaged. No injuries reported.

Joseph Hanlon aged 22 from Harwich in Allegheny County died at Citizens General Hospital in New Kensington on Tuesday from injuries suffered in a one car crash Sunday.

An answer to a motion for a new trial in the estate of Mrs. Iaa Claire Mc Knight case has been filed in Indiana County Prothonotary. J Freeman Bragg's attorney argues the verdict of 25 000 was a compro mise verdict and rejects claims of jury contact.

Escapees Recaptured Near Plumville Area

Two Allegheny County Workhouse escapees Richard Erb 33 Ernest and Richard C. Smith 22 Sandy Lake Mercer County were captured by state police at 6 35 p m about 10 miles north of Plumville. They were not armed and wore institutional clothing. Erb served 1 2 to 3 years burglary and Smith 9 18 months for contributing to the delinquency of a minor. They were lodged in Indiana County Jail and to be returned to the Workhouse by Allegheny officials.

Assessors Appointed Amid Half in Indiana County

Three new assessors were appointed by the Indiana County Commissioners to fill vacancies from the deaths of former officeholders. Charles Boucher was named for Indiana's second ward, D Clair Fieldline for the third ward, and Mrs Sara Davis for the same ward. Relative Quiet Returns to Harlem After Night of Violence

The night brought relative quiet in Harlem while unrest spread in other areas. Two Black residents were shot, one critically, and dozens were arrested as looting and window-smashing occurred in the city. FBI opened an investigation on Johnson administration orders.
