A Waldo Advocate clipping details Mr. and Mrs. Sam Elder marking 60 years of marriage with a surprise party. About 200 friends joined the couple for a lawn ceremony and reception, with ten children, nine grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Funeral services for Elmer E Hinderliter well known Eleanora resident who died Friday of liver cancer were held Sunday in Eleanora. The large ceremony drew about 400 Klansmen in full regalia leading the procession to the grave. Survivors include Emma his widow three daughters and three sons plus brothers and sisters in several towns. He was born May 8 1867 in Ringgold and lived in Eleanora 29 years. He worked at R and P mines as assistant superintendent and supply boss and served as a church trustee.
In Chicago on July 22 the Leopold and Loeb murder case moves toward resolution. State’s Attorney Crowe plans his death-penalty plea, to be followed by defense presentations from Clarence Darrow and experts. Over 100 witnesses will testify, with three weeks expected for court proceedings and possible outcomes including death, life imprisonment, or by no less than 14 years.
