Socialists Merge With Communists in Rome
A left wing splinter group that split from the Socialist party five years ago has merged with the Communists after a poor spring election showing. The Proletarian Party of Socialist Unity had allied with the Communists in Parliament and voted with them. The merge was approved at the party’s national congress Sunday in opposition to Socialist participation in a center left government.
