Fair-bound party car meets truck head-on

A Brookville youth, Wayne W. McNaughton, 24, was killed instantly in a head on collision on the Lakes-to-Sea Highway between Brookville and Corsica yesterday afternoon. Companion Danny Kroyle, 16, was critically injured while truck driver Paul Fyans, 21, suffered severe burns and injuries. The crash occurred near a sharp curve around 2 p.m. as the dairy truck from Iyonkville Dairy collided with the other vehicle, engulfing the scene in flames and prompting hospital transport for the injured.

Tames McKee of North Eleventh Street long a well known Indiana resident and retired rural carrier died in a hospital about nine o'clock this morning. An obituary will appear in Thursday's issue.

Repeal Gains as Alabama and Arkansas Vote Yes

As half the Alabama and Arkansas precincts reported, repeal supporters claimed a two to one victory with 70,300 for repeal and 43,890 against in Alabama, and 53,001 for repeal and 34,290 against in Arkansas. Washington noted the half way point with eighteen states ratifying the repeal amendment.

Work Federation Weekly Meeting at Clymer Hall

Federation Asks Relief From Board Protest in Indiana

Over 2000 workers from the Indiana County Workers Federation gathered to demand relief allowances they deem inadequate for rising food prices and flour shortages. A conference with the Emergency Relief Board produced a list of requests, with assurances relief terms would be reviewed at the next board meeting.
