Washington July 19 The British protest against the canal bill will claim Britain acted in good faith toward the United States and aided canal construction. It argues the Hay Pauncefote treaty was altered by Panama sovereignty changes and that the United States alone could build and benefit from the canal, while Britain notes American mercantile interests are limited.
An advertisement warns readers of kidney trouble and backache as signals of disease.
