Philadelphia July 19 joint committee of conductors and trainmen on the Pennsylvania Railroad east of Pittsburgh reached a working settlement with General Manager Meyers. Both sides claimed victory with the company maintaining its position on pay for ten hour days while adopting a minimum day and New York Central award provisions. The dispute centered on paying 4.04 for a ten hour day vs 2.63 under the new award, and union leaders said they secured agreement to a ten hour day as the minimum basis of wages.
