Lightning strikes ravage home in Oburoh street storm
A lightning bolt struck the Oburoh street home of E. G. Munshower destroying rooms from roof to cellar and shattering woodwork. Mrs. Munshower and daughter Mabel were badly shocked but expected to recover. Dr. Buterhaugh diagnosed no serious injury. The incident damaged the weatherboarding near the chimney base and followed by more hail and wind storms later.

Miners Blown In Des Moines Lightning Blast
Six miners sheltering in a shed were killed when a lightning strike ignited a large quantity of dynamite at Riverside mine in Des Moines Iowa. The blast killed six men and caused extensive damage. In Saltsburg Mrs Hila Laird wife of the late Francois Laird was overcome by gas and found unconscious by neighbors. Ralph Flude recently bought and will run Elmer W Allison’s Drug Store at Penn Run. A Cherry Tree bank project employee fell from a second floor at Topking, hitting bricks and injuring his head.

John McCurdy a Civil War veteran died Tuesday morning July 18 at his residence in Johnstown aged 76 years 6 months and 3 days after years of ill health. He was born in Lockport Westmoreland County and married Catherine Rager December 28 1851. He served in Company K 136th Pennsylvania Volunteers and lived in Johnstown 49 years. Survived by his wife four brothers and four sisters and eight children.
