Two Severe Storms Hit Blairsville Area Killing Farmer
A farmer, Dennis J. Petratos, 31, was instantly killed near Blairsville when lightning struck a tree under which he stood during a massive electrical storm. James W. Miller, 35, was severely shocked when lightning struck near his North Morrow Street home. A Blairsville sub station of Associated Gas and Electric was damaged by lightning, igniting oil and causing a fire that required on site fighting. The storms disrupted power service across the district with heavy rain hail and strong winds.
