The FCC studied AT&T’s request to install a coaxial cable linking New York and Philadelphia to transmit television. Opposed by the Independent Motion Picture Producers and the National Association of Broadcasters, objections from Western Union and Postal Telegraph were briefly raised before being dropped. The matter continues.
Johnston pleased with six months tenure as executive director of Pennsylvania relief, reporting a $219,000 weekly reduction from peak costs, decentralization of the system, automatic reinstatement for temporary employment, review committees for refuse-to-work cases, and merit-based investigators. Altoona July 16 Five year old William Erb of Hollidaysburg has broken his leg thirteen times due to brittle bones from lack of calcium. His sister Sussane aged four has broken her arm and leg three times. Yesterday the mother left him in the car while shopping and he told her Mamma I've broken my leg again.
Solicitors from the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and three service clubs roam the streets soliciting pledges to rebuild the Diamond Glassware Company plant in Indiana after a fire. The plan anticipates a federal loan of about 46 000 dollars for equipment and working capital, with no money due until the loan is secured.
Boston July 16 The U S Federal Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the cotton textile processing tax unconstitutional on two grounds Congress lacked authority to regulate cotton production which remained state controlled and the law was an improper delegation of power Justice Wilson Morris wrote that taxation cannot regulate production before interstate commerce and that production may indirectly affect commerce The decision stems from an appeal by William M Butler and James A MacDonough receivers for Hoosac Mills with plants in Fall River New Bedford and western Massachusetts Fourth Ward registrar Jesse K E McKean will register and enroll residents not yet registered and to change party affiliations tomorrow at the Evening Gazette office from 10 am to 3 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm.

Harrisburg July 16 After six months in office Gov Geo H Earle toured the state capitol by air for nearly an hour observing from above. The governor began his flight to review the building and grounds and to mark the milestone in his term in office.
N DeWitt Ray led a Kiwanis program at Rustic Lodge on Monday evening with guest John Thompson chief clerk of the Indiana County Commissioners. They discussed tax issues in Indiana County noting yearly tax decreases and the looming crisis as non payment of levies grows more acute.

Clyde Rose Jr of 649 Clark Street swerved to avoid a car driven by A Truby Elgin of 1172 Oak Street and struck a tree at the Water and Tenth streets corner. Rose's car ran onto the curb and hit the R N Ray home. No injuries were reported.
