Youth Admits Slaying at Seattle Drive-In
Seattle July 12 a 20 year old Seattle University sophomore confessed killing Donna Woodcock 22 in a fit of rage early Saturday. Deputy Prosecutor J Edmund Quigley said the youth John Russell Gasser signed the confession and has been held without charge since arrest Saturday night. Police captured him while he ate dinner after a former classmate tipped them off. The body was found nude and slashed in a vacant lot. Gasser said he strangled her in a stolen 1949 sedan. He denied a separate attack or mutilation.

Negro Dies In Electric Chair At Rockview Prison
A 48 year old Philadelphia black man, Grant Holley, died in the electric chair at Rockview prison in Bellefonte Pennsylvania for the July 4 1948 killing of Ella Wiggins in a taproom. Holley showed no emotion as he left the death cell and denied the act. His lawyers argued intoxication impaired intent.

Allegheny Fair To Open Sept 5 Despite Protests
Pittsburgh July 12 45 The Allegheny County free fair will open Sunday September 5 despite protests by a group of clergymen. County commissioners announced a modified program during the weekend in line with church leaders suggestions.
