The new Skeet field opened on July Fourth with a fine crowd. From now on the field will be open every Wednesday and Thursday afternoons for members and guests to shoot using provided traps, shells, birds, and equipment. Membership in the Indiana County Fish and Game Association is open on these days as repairs begin on the clubhouse and other fixtures.

Baker testified he was abducted held in a dark cellar for about a week and released yesterday two men warned him to leave the district in four days or face danger. Authorities pursue more arrests as Fish denies guilt.
The Elks Club softball team from Huntingdon travels to town to play two top City Softball League teams. At 6 18 p m they face May Timberlakes on Electric Field behind the Sub Station at Oakland Avenue end. At 8 p m they meet Esso Marketers under the madras. Little is known about the visiting club except they are highly regarded in local softball circles. Reyburn Keeler leveraged his Indiana connections to arrange the games, and Huntingdon is expected to bring a large following.
John C. Fetherton, 83, of 54 South Third Street, a veteran of the Indian wars, recalls five years of service mainly in the Dakotas and Montana. He served with Custer under Colonel Curtington, and recounts vivid combat tales and harsh winters with comrades.

Ray Long, noted writer and once reportedly the world’s highest paid magazine editor, died today in Hollywood from a shotgun blast placed in his mouth. Found by housekeeper Mrs Helen Andl on his bedroom floor, he was rushed to a hospital where he died without regaining consciousness.

Clement Hagerman a 31 year old taxi driver was held for the murder of his 23 year old wife and mother of two in their Lawrenceville home Detectives quoted him saying my mind went blank Hagerman recently released from St Francis Hospital where he had been a mental patient Mrs Hagerman was found strangled in the bathroom by her sister in law with two children aged three and three months in danger after the release despite warnings from the wife
Johnnie Souchock pitched a dominant game for Yatesboro, allowing three hits and striking out seven as the Bears blanked McIntyre 3 to 0 to stay in second place. The scoring included a first inning rally with a single sacrifice bunt and three more singles, plus a later three-base hit by John Marken and a squeeze play.
The 37th annual hunt and feast will be held Thursday Aug 2 at Mapleview Park, eight miles NW of Punxsutawney. Over 1,000 invitations will go out about August 1. Club officers are John A. In Pittsburgh Judge Alfred Sweyer voided a $3,000 verdict against Attorney General Charles J. Margiotti in a stock dealings suit with Goodbody and Sons Co. He set a 15 day deadline to repay the amount or a new trial on the $31,610 claim would proceed. Margiotti said he would review the court’s opinion before deciding his next move.
