Several locals shopped in Indiana and traveled to Johns town for the Fourth of July. Wm Punch started at the Marshall Foundry after Philadelphia work. Various motor trips to Coral Brush valley Blairsville and Home noted with multiple households and visitors. Rev McDivitt preached at the Presbyterian church. Governor Myers called on S A Georner’s family. Baseball between Blairsville and Black Lick drew crowds. Edna Wissinger and Mary Lyda attended. A. J. Ray and family motored to Blacklick. Mrs Ray returned to Wilkinsburg. Mariah Bergman and Wm Falcomer visited friends. Caroline Smith and family, and S. E. Dixon with daughter Mary Jane, rode to Brush Valley. Mrs C O Smith has returned from a visit with her parents in Home.
Professor L H Francie of Vandergrift and Miss Mary France of South Bend spent Monday with Mrs A R Ashbaugh. Mrs M D Ramaley stayed several days in Indiana last week. Anna Fritz of Blairsville visited here. Locals from the Ridge attended a serenade for Mr and Mrs T C Bair on Wednesday evening. Mr and Mrs D A Rosensteel were Saltsburg callers Monday. Mr Walter Ewing and family note patrons of the Gazette.
In Brush Valley John and Fred Brink were weekend visitors at Vandergrift. Miss Elda Altemus visited Homer City on Monday. Mr. and Mrs. Irvin McCaulley and their three children returned to Altoona after visiting friends in the valley. Mrs. Rev. Sprinkle and son Glenn depart for an extended visit with friends at Youngwood Alverton Oakmont and Scottdale. Miss Ilorence ruby and Strongs town are visiting friends in Mechanicsburg this week. Mr. Wm Truby, grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Truby, is somewhere in France now. Arthur Sprinkle, visiting his sisters, has returned home.

A Friday evening gathering at Waterman heard speakers I M Fritchman and Vinton discuss more coal and eight hour workdays and urged men to do their part by increasing coal output. The event drew a large crowd and featured comments from several local residents.
