David d. Davis father of U S Senator James J. Davis died after long illness. He will be buried after funeral services at the family home Friday afternoon. He came from Wales 54 years ago and worked as a puddler in steel mills before his son entered politics as secretary of labor under Harding, Coolidge and Hoover. Surviving are four children Hannah Howes Sharon Walter J. of Follansbee David J. Davis Pittsburg and William J. Davis Detroit, one brother Samuel J. Davis Philadelphia and a sister Mrs John Williams Muncie Ind.

Marion Foster Welch 84, sole child of composer Stephen Collins Foster, died of a heart attack brought on by asthma in Pittsburgh.
