Obituary of Dr Hiram King of Somerset
Somerset mourned Rev Dr Hiram King on June 23 at his West Union Street residence. A beloved minister and civic leader, he served St Pauls Reformed Church, supported Civil War memorials, and helped found a courthouse clock. Born July 17 1839 Armstrong County he studied at Franklin and Marshall, joined the ministry in 1861, served in Pennsylvania regiments, came to Somerset in 1881, and died after long service. Burial in Union Cemetery follows funeral led by Dr George Leith Roth and Rev A E Truxal.
