Harrisburg July 21 Most of Pennsylvania s workers will not be affected by the federal wage hour law says Secretary of Labor and Industry Ralph M Bashore The federal act applies to inter state commerce and coal and steel already operate under contracts meeting or exceeding 44 hours weekly He notes service industries like laundries hotels and restaurants are intrastate and outside the act A state law would be needed and Bally will study how many of the 3 5 million workers fall under the federal act The Supreme Court ruling on the state hour law does not affect a separate 44 hour week rule for two men in industry and a companion law grants the laundry industry authority to set minimum wages for women
