County Bicentennial Celebration Opens Tonight in Indiana County
The five day Fourth of July Bicentennial begins with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m. at the J.S. Mack Community Center fairgrounds. Lions Club sponsors the event with IUP Summer Theater Guild performing The Con trast at 7:30. Miss Indiana County Bicentennial Queen will be crowned from eight finalists. Parade and fireworks close the celebration on Monday, July 5. Friday Nationality Night, Senior Citizens booths, Rankin Junior Tambouritzins, Naughty Pines square dance, Kiddies Day Saturday with bike and pet parades, a mini midway, Ronald McDonald appearance, Dreammakers, Keen Age Band, home run derby, flea market, greased pig contest, demolition derby, and a Sunday flea market start See Page 6.

Fatal crash kills minister and wife near Elderton
An elderly Indiana County minister Rev. Ira L. Kelly 78 and his wife Thelma 77 died in a multi vehicle crash on Route 422 at Elderton at 5 30 am. The Kelley car struck a radar trailer driven by Lawrence Kozak 22 of Lilly RD 2 then veered left and hit parked vehicles in Shaffer's lot. Coroner and state police investigate.
