Rural carriers in Washington will receive a holiday on July 4 by order of the Postmaster General Comelyau. All service on rural routes will be suspended for that day.
John D Rockefeller has given the General Education Board ten million dollars for higher education in the United States. The gift is to be paid October 1 and held as a perpetual foundation, with distributions to colleges and universities as the board sees fit to promote broader higher education nationwide. Aimed especially at southern and denominational schools, the funds are to support non sectarian and sectarian institutions alike while avoiding theological instruction.
