In Ebensburg on January 31 county court gave Mike Dravenak two years probation and ordered him to pay court costs for keeping his 23 year old daughter Mary chained in a room at their Lilly home. He was barred from seeking Mary’s release from Torrance State Hospital where she was recommitted after conditions were found. Chief Detective Carroll said only a mattress and chair remained in the chained room and neighbors recalled an instance when she escaped and he struck her with a stone. Carroll noted Dravenak has not worked for a decade and Judge McCann remarked on his lack of understanding of local customs.
